(This is part 2 of a 2-part course)
Objectivism holds that the universe is benevolent, leading many to hope for the best. While this belief can motivate one to continue towards success, it can also cause people to continue down paths they should rationally abandon. The core of the issue is that people believe that the world is just, with the further assumption that they are good. These beliefs color how individuals evaluate their own chances of success and how they evaluate the situations of others. In this pair of lectures, Chrispher Robinson will discuss the dual nature of hope and its relationship to the benevolent universe principle.
Christopher Robinson is an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
