(This is part 3 of a 3-part course)
Logical fallacies are errors in reasoning that occur often enough to be worth naming and studying. In this three-part course, David Kelley will discuss a range of common fallacies from the standpoint of epistemology—as failures of rational thinking and as diagnostic clues to the nature of rationality. The course will cover some of the familiar “textbook” fallacies such as ad hominem argument that are often on display in political campaigns and controversies, as well as covering less well-known conceptual fallacies such as context-dropping and stolen concepts.
David Kelley is the founder and senior fellow of The Atlas Society. Among his many works is The Art of Reasoning, a widely used college textbook in logic that he is currently revising for a new edition.
