Joe Duarte – The World Began When I Was Born: The Poetry of the American West

The spirit of the West best exemplifies the spirit of America. Joe Duarte will introduce you to a wide range of classic American poetry, from the cowboy poetry of Badger Clark to the modern Western scene. Many of these works passionately celebrate the hallmark Objectivist virtues of pride, independence, and justice. This session will be part presentation, and part performance.

Joe grew up in the deserts of Arizona. He is steeped in the literature of the Southwest and loves to recite Western poetry before audiences large and small. He is a pursuing a doctorate in Social Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
