Vickie Oddino, M.A. – The Damage Wrought by Group Identity on College Campuses

Vickie Oddino addresses how the vilification of individualism and the elevation of group identity have crippled higher education in this country and created a generation of easy-to-control, unthinking followers. The prioritization of group identity has stifled any honest communication on campuses and resulted in college graduates capable only of looking to some institutionally sanctioned group for the answers of how and what to think. A professor of English for thirteen years at Mission College in Los Angeles, Prof. Oddino focuses her efforts on introducing her resistant students to the radical idea that they can and should think for themselves.
