William Thomas, M.A. – Government and Anarchy

Does a principled appreciation of individual rights imply anarchism? Is government possible without taxation, i.e., without violating the rights of its subjects? In this lecture, William Thomas will discuss the history of the anarchism debate in Objectivist circles and will offer a fresh theoretical appreciation of the problematic intersection between law, social organization, and human liberty.

William Thomas is Director of Programs at The Atlas Society and the Summer Seminar conference director. His essay “Objectivism against Anarchy” appeared in Anarchism/Minarchism: Is a Government Part of a Free Country? Long and Machan, eds. (Ashgate, 2008).
